Contains mainly handwritten personal letters from Smith and his wife Dee (Danielle) to Charles and Beryl Pick. The photocopied letters include general business correspondence.

The letters give some insight into the long-distance friendship of the two couples. Frequent meetings are mentioned even though the Smiths are in Cape Town and the Picks in London.

Included are letters to John Selby of Heinemann in Johannesburg in 1967, and a letter which mentions the birth of Smith’s son in 1965.
