7 Notebook

From c. 2012-c. 2019. The same poem may be drafted across several notebooks. These cover ‘Simple Complex Shapes’ (2015) and ‘Venus as a Bear’ (2018), but also contain drafts from ‘Utter’ (2013), ‘Measures of Expatriation’ (2016), and ‘Skin Can Hold’ (2019). They are not exclusively poetry notebooks and may contain to-do lists, event planning for the Commonwealth Foundation (2013-14) and the Judith Wilson Fellowship (2014-15), notes from events attended, e.g. the Bocas Litfest (Trinidad) and the T.S. Eliot Prize (London). They will have been used in Ireland, India, and Trinidad, as well as the U.K.
N.B. (1) the Louise Bourgeois sequence drafts, made while travelling between Stirling/Dunblane and Edinburgh, and at the Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh.
N.B. (2) the Ireland poems, many drafted at Tibradden, Selina Guinness and Colin Graham’s house near Dublin, and at Rebecca Barr’s then apartment in Galway.
