Peter Dickinson (PD) is a prolific English author and poet, best known for children’s books and detective stories. He won the Carnegie medal from the Library Association for TULKU (1979) and CITY OF GOD (1980); and the Crime Writer’s Golden Dagger twice. He was awarded the O.B.E. in 2009 for services to literature.

The extracts are sent to Hilary Rubinstein and Dickinson writes that he’d like to see them published. They are dark passages and refer to illness and suicide. PD writes: “I wouldn’t read them at a point when you’re feeling at all emotionally low.”
