Scope and content
File SZ/ITB/7 relates to a joint working party of the LPC, Department of the Environment (DoE), and Fire Research Station, chaired by Dr Martin Holdgate, Chief Scientist at the DoE. The terms of reference were:
"To examine the future relationship between the Fire Research Station (FRS) and the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) in respect of the long-term national requirement for fire research, taking account of the relationships with and contributions of organisations in the UK engaged in fire research, and to make recommendations." The working party was set up in August 1985 and reported in the Spring of 1986. A copy of the final draft report, of March 1986, is in the file.
