Contains papers relating to the preservation of Mellis Common, the largest common in Suffolk. In another note he writes: “A common reveals all the things we have in common – which may, these days, turn out to be very little”.
Includes drafts of RD’s article “Common Sense” The Independent, 2001; correspondence relating to Suffolk Wildlife Trust (who own the common) and Vehicular Right of Way; an article on ancient commons, by Ken Worpole; an explanation of the Commons Bill; “Suffolk Commons”, Suffolk Wildlife Magazine, 6/6/04; “A Walking Landscape”; and “Signs of Life”.
