The earliest correspondence is 22/5/96 with Fourth Estate Ltd in which RD writes “have been thinking about how best to approach a book about native swimming”. In a later note he writes “I need to get a sense of risk and danger in early on”. Thereafter correspondence is mainly with Rebecca Carter of Chatto & Windus. Includes editorial comments and RD’s reactions to this. Also includes early proposals and discussions for the content and themes of 'Waterlog'. Revised structure; and chapter writing schedules.
