Scope and content
This sub-series of films is largely uncatalogued to item level. Forty nine items of film (some including sub-items) have been lodged at the East Anglian Film Archive. These films [and sound reels] cover politics, travel, and miscellaneous topics. Included are: general elections; the Prime Minister's world tour; Conservative speeches in South Norfolk; the opening of parliament; China; Hong Kong; France; New York and the 1938 World Fair; Iona; Rome and the Alps; Blyford floods; the 1957 Royal Show; a May Day wedding; 'Oil for the 20th century'; the coronation march; the 1964 Aldeburgh fair; and Christmas fayre. A large number of unidentified reels are also included.
Some of the aforementioned films have been copied onto two video-tapes which are housed at the UEA Archive: JH/PHO/52/1 and JH/PHO/52/2.
